Ballet West Announces the 2025/26 Season

Ballet West’s 2025–26 season includes five Utah premieres, two world premieres, and unforgettable storytelling. “This season is about celebrating a grand and varied range of storytelling through ballet,” said Artistic Director Adam Sklute. “Versatility has become a hallmark of Ballet West, and the range of works presented will take our artists and our audiences on a journey of works and styles that is more varied than ever before.”

Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre | Oct 24–Nov 1, 2025

Romeo & Juliet—featuring rebuilt sets and costumes—creates a visceral, immersive experience with dramatic sword fights, passionate pas de deux, and Prokofiev’s memorable score. Choreographed by the acclaimed Michael Smuin, this theatrical production showcases why the narrative ballet has endured the test of time since its 1930 premiere.

Mendelssohn’s enchanting score in the comedic adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream blends seamlessly into a magical forest filled with mischievous fairies and a comedic love story. Stravinsky’s dramatic arrangement sets the stage for the powerful masterwork of Les Noces, a revolutionary work by Bronislava Nijinska, one of the few prominent female choreographers of her era who empowered women and challenged cultural norms.

Ballet West’s historic Nutcracker production, first staged in 1944 by Ballet West’s founder Willam Christensen, is now designated as a Living Historic Landmark by the state of Utah—the first such designation for a ballet. Discover why this iconic classic, set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score performed live by the Ballet West Orchestra, has become synonymous with holiday tradition.
