Leiland Charles, one of Columbus’ most beloved dancer-choreographers, has spent six seasons with BalletMet, and is returning again as a choreographer to present his new work Decisions, Decisions. The piece explores the nonlinearity of life’s trajectories, based in concepts from chaos theory and the butterfly effect, and is set to the spirited music of Vivaldi.

Former San Francisco Ballet soloist, Dana Genshaft, will present her choreography in dialogue with composer Mason Bates. Technical brilliance plays with a vibrant auditory landscape to create a feeling of youthful exuberance, paying homage to the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley.

Artistic Director of San Francisco’s Imagery, Amy Seiwert, remixes and revisits former selves to create a space for love, life, and compassion to flourish in The Catch. The curiosity of experience and an understanding of the power of nuanced vulnerability grow throughout the piece. All three pieces will be costumed by a frequent collaborator of Seiwert, Susan Roemer.

A Celebration of New Works showcases the diverse talents of three truly amazing choreographers,” said BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang. “We are so excited to present this incredible evening of ballet to our audiences and help bring these fresh and thought-provoking works to life.”
