Saint Louis Ballet Publications
The mission of Saint Louis Ballet is to provide a resident professional ballet company that performs classical and contemporary works of the highest quality for the cultural enrichment and enjoyment of the entire community.
Saint Louis Ballet shall be a preeminent ballet institution enriching the community and providing an appreciation of the performing arts through the highest quality performances of classical, neoclassical and contemporary ballets as well as engagement activities.
Established in 1975 as a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization, Saint Louis Ballet has been dedicated to advancing the art of ballet in St. Louis for nearly 40 years. When Gen Horiuchi joined the organization as Executive and Artistic Director in 2000, he expanded Saint Louis Ballet from a small, civic company that occasionally hired guest artists and staged one production per year to what it is today: a resident ballet company that employs 21 professional, paid dancers and stages 5 artistic productions each season (20-25 public performances) at the 1,600 seat, state of the art Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Saint Louis Ballet performances reach over 17,500 people per year.Â
The Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents – as well as millions more through television broadcasts, film screenings, and online platforms.
