King Leontes of Sicilia is crippled with an all-consuming jealousy when his friend, King Polixenes of Bohemia, comes to stay with him and his wife Hermione. What follows is a tale in which a marriage is destroyed, a child is abandoned, and hope lives on within two lovers.
