Edwaard Liang’s reimagining of the classic is returning for the first time since its debut in 2020.

Returning for the first time since its debut in 2020, Edwaard Liang’s Alice will return to the Ohio Theatre Feb. 9-11 for six performances. The re-imagined children’s classic is based on the later tales of the Lewis Carroll heroine and will feature a lush and colorful set, charming characters, whimsical costuming, and a larger-than-life Jabberwocky.

With original choreography by BalletMet Artistic Director Liang, the 90-minute ballet is set in two acts with one intermission and is family-friendly. In addition to the professional company and BalletMet 2 dancers, 125 academy students will dance in the production. Familiar characters will include, Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts, and more.

“Alice is truly a household story, and it is such a treat to bring our interpretation of the tale to the BalletMet stage,” Liang said. “The set is incredible, the costumes are innovative, and the dancers are breathtaking—everything about this ballet is pure magic.”
