Bring the magic of The Nutcracker to life by turning old book pages (or printed story sheets) into a beautiful, bookish Nutcracker decoration.

Materials:

  • Old book pages, sheet music, or printed story excerpts (bonus if from The Nutcracker tale!)
  • Cardstock or thin cardboard (for backing)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick or Mod Podge
  • Markers, colored pencils, or metallic pens
  • Optional: glitter, ribbon, buttons, or gems for decoration
  • Hole punch and string (if you want to hang it as an ornament)

Instructions:

  1. Print a Nutcracker Outline:
    • Click the button at the bottom of this page to download a nutcracker outline.
    • Print the outline and get started.

  2. Create the “Book Page Suit”:
    • Cut pieces from an old magazine or book to fit inside the Nutcracker’s coat, pants, and hat. Glue them in place—you’re literally dressing him in words!

  3. Add Color and Character:
      • Use markers or metallic pens to add details like epaulets, buttons, rosy cheeks, and Clara-worthy sparkle.
      • BONUS: Write your favorite holiday book titles along the hat brim or boots.

  4. Personalize It:
    • On the back, write “Clara’s Storybook Nutcracker, inspired by Once Upon A Dance.”
