We enjoyed a vibrant summer, including a 2-week residency and culminating performances at the Chautauqua Institution as well as an exquisite evening performance at Wolf Trap in September!

Now, we officially open our 2022/23 season with our highly anticipated NEXTsteps, TWB’s annual program of new ballets by both emerging and acclaimed choreographers, created just for TWB’s inspiring artists.

This season’s NEXTsteps heralds the vigor and energy of the year ahead. Not only do we welcome the return of three brilliant choreographers, we also introduce eight new dancers to our Studio Company! The continued evolution of the company is on full display, as artists, both new and seasoned, come together for a diverse and engaging program of new work.

Trust and confidence for artistic exploration are at the center of the relationship between dancer and choreographer. Silas Farley, Dana Genshaft, and Andile Ndlovu are three distinct and compelling choreographer voices. Through their creative processes, they offer the dancers opportunity for growth in many areas that will impact their work in a full range of choreography—from modern ballets, to classical, neoclassical, and beyond.

Supporting the continued development of choreographers, like Silas, Dana, and Andile, is both exciting and personally rewarding. And I could not be more proud of our extraordinarily gifted dancers, who offer me inspiration every day. I am eager to share with you their remarkable talents, in these singular new works and in the entire season ahead.

Thank you for being here with us to celebrate the start of our 2022/23 Season! With excitement,

– Julie Kent Artistic Director
