Dancer who’s inspired you?
There are so many! Muriel Maffre comes to mind as a dancer who completely moved me when I was first falling in love with ballet.

“fear less” by Fred Again.. & Sampha.

Least favorite dance step?
Développé Devant.

How do you like to spend your time outside of dance?
I love yoga, hiking, and eating my way through Portland.

Best place to hang out in your company’s home city?
Laurelhurst Park is a favorite.

Dream role?
Juliet.

Go-to coffee shop order?
Black coffee.

Essential post-show ritual?
I will chat with my husband Gabe, eat a good meal, and take a soak in the bath.  

ABOUT CARLY
Carly Wheaton is from Marin County, California, where she trained with Stapleton Ballet School, Marin Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet School. Carly went on to dance with Ballet Memphis as a Trainee and danced with The Washington Ballet’s Second Company and Company for a total of three seasons. Prior to joining OBT, Carly danced with BalletMet from 2015–2022. She has had the pleasure of performing works by choreographers Julia Adam, Jiří Kylián, Val Caniparoli, Alexander Ekman, Matthew Neenan, Christopher Wheeldon, Andi Schermoly, Ma Cong, Septime Webre, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Edwaard Liang, James Kudelka, and George Balanchine.
