Amid the tragedy of world events in their homeland, these international artists emerge with a greater purpose. After over 30 years, the National Ballet of Ukraine has made an extraordinary return to the U.S. with an action-packed 16-city tour.

The National Ballet of Ukraine is one of the world’s top ballet companies. Regarded for their phenomenal clarity, skill, and artistry, these are some of the finest technicians and storytellers in the ballet world.

In a stacked program featuring excerpts from renowned classics like La Bayadère, Don Quixote, and Giselle, audiences will also be treated to company staples lesser known in the States, like “The Forest Song.” An iconic part of their repertoire, this composition merges Ukraine’s balletic history with their cultural heritage; prima ballerina Tetiana Lozova and her husband premier soloist Yaroslav Tkachu have the honor of dancing the harmonious adagio section throughout the tour. Performances also introduce the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers from Canada who share a series of enriching traditional folk dances with mesmerizing energy and athleticism that culminate in a grand finale alongside the company. A combined ensemble of 44 dancers onstage, this final work is accompanied by a cutting-edge 3D LED screen that immerses the audience into the scene through state-of-the-art technology.

Yes, the company is eager to share the magnificence of its art with America, but this tour also aims to reinvigorate international awareness and compassion towards Ukraine’s continued invasion, nearly three years in. To encourage these efforts, the National Ballet of Ukraine dedicates a portion of the tour’s proceeds—tickets, merchandise, and generous donations alike—to two organizations, HUMANITE and Ukraine House, that specifically tend to and support affected Ukrainian families. Empowered to represent their country, even the Ukrainian government has endorsed the tour, viewing it as a diplomatic opportunity. While keeping their fight for freedom at the top of America’s minds is a high priority, many of the dancers also hope to illustrate their home’s rich arts and culture scene, yearning to be known for more than just their news headlines.

This is your sign to enjoy the National Ballet of Ukraine in an effervescent evening of celebration, resilience, and courage as they share their unmatched talents through the art of dance and cultural exchange on stages across America. The impressionable beauty and vulnerability of this experience promise to pull at your heartstrings and leave you with a newfound hope, reminding you of the power of art.

Catch their spirited East Coast tour now through the end of the month and stay tuned for announcements regarding Midwest and Western circuits. Visit their website at nationalukraineballet.com for full tour information and witness the magic in a city near you!
